We had the pleasure of interviewing Eray Özgür, who works as a Cold Shear Operator at Hasçelik’s Hot Rolling Production Facility. Eray, who has been in the iron and steel industry since 2007, shared his passion for his work and the strong bonds he has built with his teammates in a sincere and heartfelt conversation.
"I Played Amateur Football in the Youth Academies of Muğlaspor and Sakaryaspor"
At the start of our interview, we wanted to learn more about Eray Özgür, his work experience, and his personal outlook. Eray introduced himself as follows:
"My name is Eray Özgür, I am 40 years old. I have been in the iron and steel industry since 2007. As of January 1, 2023, I joined the Hasçelik family and currently work as a Cold Shear Operator at the Hot Rolling Production Facility."
Eray also has a noteworthy background in football:
"I played amateur football in the youth academies of Muğlaspor and Sakaryaspor," he says.
With a calm personality, Eray is a Galatasaray fan and shared a fun memory with his friends:
"A few years ago, I went to a Galatasaray friendly match with a group of friends, each of us supporting different clubs. We all wore our teams’ jerseys, and it turned out to be a very fun and memorable day."
"I Love Every Aspect of My Work"
Eray explained the motivation behind his professional life:
"I love every aspect of my work because, in general, I really enjoy working. I have held different positions in the iron and steel industry and always tried to do my best in each role.
Besides enjoying my work, even if it’s a task I haven't done before, I take it on and put in all my effort to succeed. I believe that if a person truly wants to, they can overcome any challenge."
"Starting Work Each Day Is a Source of Motivation for Me"
Eray emphasized that starting work each day is a major source of motivation for him:
"Because I love working life, starting work each day is a separate source of motivation for me. I feel lucky to have a job. Everything about working motivates me; my job is an important part of my daily life."
"We Always Support Each Other"
Speaking about the strong bonds with his colleagues, Eray said:
"In work life, we spend more time with our colleagues than with our families. During the 8-hour workday, we are with our coworkers. Of course, we try to spend time with our families at home, but the bonds we build at work help us become like a family. We have very good relationships, and we always support each other."
"Focusing on Your Work and Doing It Well Is the Key to Success"
Eray offered helpful advice for newcomers:
"When I first started, my colleagues welcomed me warmly. This is a very important experience for a newcomer. I would advise everyone here to warmly welcome new colleagues.
Our supervisors value us greatly, and this value reflects in our work as well. I would also suggest that new employees show their best effort from the start. Focusing on your work and doing it well is the key to success."
"The Importance We Place on the Quality of Our Work Comes Before Everything"
Eray described the essence of his job as follows:
"The most distinctive feature of my job is that it must always be done properly and cleanly. Therefore, if I had to define my work with a slogan, it would be: ‘Proper and Clean Work.’ The importance we place on the quality of our work comes before everything."
"I Still Can’t Forget It"
Eray’s proudest moment at Hasçelik is linked to the company’s sports achievements:
"Last year, Hasçelik advanced to the second round in the Volleyball League. This success once again showed how positively social activities outside of work can reflect on work motivation.
I still can’t forget the joyful moments and happiness we experienced when we advanced. Participating in such tournaments and social activities contributed to both my personal development and team spirit."
"I'm Glad He Made It Happen"
Eray expressed his gratitude to his colleagues and the supervisor who helped him join this positive work environment:
"I would like to thank my supervisor Ümit Yavaş. I am grateful that he appreciated my work and included me in this wonderful working environment. I truly am glad he made it happen."
"If You Really Want It, It’s Impossible Not to Succeed"
Eray emphasized that the foundation of his professional success lies in the lessons he received from his family:
"The most important lesson I received from my family is respect. My father always taught me to show respect to my elders and love to my juniors. He also stressed the importance of taking good care of my work.
While working at our family’s store, we experienced tough times during an economic crisis, but this did not discourage me from wanting to work in the iron and steel sector.
Although my father initially didn't find it suitable for me to work in a factory, I have now been successfully working in this industry for nearly 19 years. If you really want something, it’s impossible not to succeed. I believe that any work done within the framework of respect and love leads to success."
"They Are the Most Valuable People in My Life"
Eray expressed his love for his family as follows:
"I would always like to tell my family how much I love them. They are the most valuable people in my life, and I have come this far with their support."
"I Felt Truly Valued"
At the end of the interview, Eray concluded with an emotional thank you:
"I wished this interview would never end. It was really wonderful to get to know you better. I’m very happy that you invited me here and gave me the opportunity to have this conversation.
Being in such a valuable environment honored me greatly. Also, when my supervisors invited me to this talk, I said, ‘I feel truly valued.’ They already show us how much they care, but this invitation made me very happy. Therefore, I sincerely thank them all."
