Characteristics of Forged Steel

In the manufacturing sector, metals and alloys hold the largest share. Steels are iron-carbon alloys and are divided into subgroups based on the carbon content ratio: low carbon (C<0.25%), medium carbon (0.25%-0.6%), and high carbon (0.60%-1.4%). The presence of carbon in the composition significantly affects mechanical properties, but the presence of carbon alone is not sufficient. Therefore, alloying elements (such as Al, Cr, Mo, Ni, Mn, Si, V, and W) are added to forged steels, which are classified according to the amount (low alloy, high alloy) and type of alloying elements they contain (manganese steels, chrome-nickel steels, stainless steels).
